Tasting Notes

Beautiful dark and bright fruits with blackberry, blueberry and licorice aromas that follow through to a full body and round and lightly chewy tannins. Gorgeous texture. A long and flavorful finish. All here. Best ever. Drink in 2022.

Lustrous dark crimson. Really polished and compelling on the nose. Very round and ripe yet with lovely freshness. The best Siran I remember tasting! Really sappy and energetic. 2023 - 2035

A deep ruby colour and evocative, ripe nose of red cherries, currants and toasted spices. The palate is plump and round on entry, with all the succulent red and black fruits you would expect from a 2015 Margaux, laced with exotic nutmeg and clove spice. The tannins are chalky and still firm, bolstering the structure of the wine and giving a savoury edge. This is youthful and primary at this stage and warrants decanting and food if drinking now. With 2-3 years' of bottle age this will prove to be a fleshy, pure and sophisticated Margaux, the long finish highlighting good longevity for this wine. The finest Siran that we have ever tasted.

Silky textures, refined tannins and an elegant, fresh, juicy mouthful of earthy, ripe, sweet dark red fruits with nuances of tobacco, wet earth, cigar wrapper and a background note of licorice are a turn on. Give this about 7 years in the cellar and this should start to really show its character and complexities. Today, there is no better wine for the money from the Margaux appellation than the 2015 Chateau Siran. The wine was made from blending 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot.

Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, May 2018

The 2015 Siran is a blend of 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot picked between 17 September to 12 October. It is raised in 25% new oak plus one-year barrels. It is a little richer and more opulent than its neighbor, the 2015 Dauzac, due to the higher proportion of Merlot. It veers to more red fruit here, wild strawberry and later cassis. The palate is smooth and sensual on the entry, very well defined with a keen thread of acidity. It grips the mouth, implying that there is more Cabernet than there actually is. I like the volume here, and unlike previous vintages that seemed to show some warmth on the finish, here the finish is much more linear and controlled, fanning out gracefully but with power emanating from that Merlot. This is likely to be proprietor Edouard Miailhe's best wine in recent years. 2020 - 2045
