Tasting Notes

A generously wooded nose sets off the spicy, very ripe, intensely earthy aromas of ripe plum and almost jammy aromas and the oak continues on to the muscular, big and rich flavors of impressive size and weight. This is wonderfully long yet it's obvious there is ample reserve beyond what the wine is revealing today. There could be upside here.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, January 2005

Good full red. Dark cherry, truffle, smoked meat and underbrush on the nose, lifted by a mineral component. Full and broad, with more concentration and volume than the Latricieres without coming across as weighty. Slightly exotic cherry confiture, truffle and earth flavors show a tangy quality but a bit less precision and early lift than the Latricieres. Perhaps this is merely subdued today. Trapet recommends holding this at least ten years. 92(+?) points

Blackberries, black cherries, brambleberries, and roses can be detected in the aromatic profile of the 2003 Chambertin. Medium to full-bodied, it unleashes flavors reminiscent of tar-laced black fruits, sea salt, and notes of licorice. Pure, structured, and persistent, it is a fleshy, intense wine for drinking between 2009 and 2015+.
