Once again there is borderline dominant menthol influence on the more sauvage-inflected aromas of cassis, black cherry and forest floor. The velvety, round and muscular medium-bodied flavors also exude a fine bead of minerality that gradually emerges on the mocha-inflected finish that doesn't quite have the same verve as the best of these Gevrey 1ers.
Aromas of cassis, orange rind, smoked meats and loamy soil preface the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered wine that's concentrated and textural, with fine definition and a long, aromatic finish. This is another of the high points of the négoce portfolio this year.
Sweet black cherries, baked vanilla and a little violet on the nose here. The palate starts sweet but builds in depth and structure through the mid palate. This fresh and savoury edge brings harmony to a glossy, sweet and ripe Gevrey. Supple and long on the finish.
