Pommard Rugiens, Domaine Joseph Voillot 2002

There is another dimension here with beautifully elegant red fruit aromas of class, purity and superb detail that blend seamlessly into incredibly complex, expansive, rich and powerful flavors of real size, weight and muscle plus an anise and cassis-infused finish of stunning length. There is of course a firm tannic spine and the tannins are abundant, they're also quite fine for Rugiens and this is more refined and less robust than it usually is. A terrific effort that will be approachable relatively young yet should last for 20 years, perhaps more. Bravo!
