Tasting Notes

One of the finest wines I've tasted from this estate is the 2018 Côte Rôtie La Giroflarie, a blend of 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier that comes from 11 different parcels spread throughout the appellation. Its ruby/purple hue is followed by a youthful, ripe, incredibly promising bouquet of black raspberries, rendered bacon fat, Asian spice, ground pepper, and spring flowers. It has subtle background oak, full-bodied richness, an exotic, singular profile, and just about flawless balance. This gorgeous Côte Rôtie shows the ripe style of the vintage yet still brings balance, purity, and elegance.

The estate's main cuvée, the 2018 Cote Rotie la Giroflarie, is inky in hue and boasts promising notes of asphalt and black olives. Full-bodied and silky in texture, it looks to be an exceptional vintage for this fourth-generation property. 2021 - 2035
