Gevrey Chambertin La Marie, Domaine Claude Dugat 2019

Tasting Notes

There are five and a half barrels of Dugat's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin La Marie, a richer, more muscular wine that delivers aromas of cassis, cherries, dark chocolate, spice and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's deep and concentrated, standing out as one of the richer, broader-shouldered wines in the cellar.

**Note: from a tiny vineyard that measures only .95 ha; the Dugat holding is one with very old vines that average more than 80 years of age**
Firm reduction buries the fruit today. Otherwise there is good minerality to the powerful and equally serious flavors that terminate in a more complex and notably more structured finale. This youthfully austere effort is going to require at least some patience and should reward 10+ years of cellaring.
