Ripe fruit with orange-peel, walnut and ripe-strawberry aromas. Full body, ultra-fine and long tannins and a finish that lasts for minutes. Wow. Gorgeous. Better in 2021 but who can wait?
The 2013 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi is very faithful to the Poderi Luigi Einaudi house style that prizes elegance and tradition. This beautifully balanced Barolo opens to a light garnet appearance with dark ruby highlights. The wine is lean and polished in terms of its initial approach, but it does fan out over the palate in silky waves. The bouquet here is classic Nebbiolo with blue flowers, wild berries, light spice and smoke. Drink Date 2018 - 2035
Barolo. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. A little reductive and herbal, rather than fruity. Smoky notes. Supple, medium-weight palate fruit but quite stubbornly refusing to open up fully. You can see this come together with further age, though.
