Gevrey Chambertin Cazetiers, Domaine Armand Rousseau 1985

Tasting Notes

(with thanks to Dr. Kevin Chan). Medium but not complete bricking. There is a very subtle hint of volatile acidity that adds lift to the expressive nose that consists mostly of sous-bois and earth components. I happened to have this side-by-side with the '83 Caz (see herein) and while the vibrant middle weight flavors are both more elegant and a bit more complex, mid-palate and finish don't have the same richness on the slightly lean and clipped finish. To be sure this is a perfectly good effort but it's not a really distinguished one in the context of how well Rousseau did in general in 1985. Note that I would suggest drinking up sooner than later.
