Chambolle Musigny Les Fuées, Domaine Mugnier 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées soars from the glass with aromas of raspberries and blackberries mingled with notions of peony, warm spices, orange rind and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, it's rich and seamless, with a concentrated core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. This is a touch more reserved out of the gates than its communal counterpart, but all the potential it showed from barrel is clearly apparent.

A much spicier and less earthy mix offers up notes of red and blue pinot fruit, plum and hints of anise and violet. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is even sleeker and more mineral-driven as well with excellent intensity that possess an interesting finish that is at once youthfully austere yet vaguely sweet. This beautifully persistent effort is more firmly structured and should age accordingly. Note: from 50+ year old vines
