Ruchottes Chambertin, Domaine Georges Mugneret 1994

Tasting Notes

A beautifully complex and expressive nose of tea, leather, underbrush and plenty of Gevrey earth adds nuance to the now mostly secondary fruit aromas that lead to round, rich and delicious flavors that possess unusually good phenolic ripeness for the vintage and while there is still a touch of finishing tannin, the finish remains well balanced and relatively fine. In sum, this is an unusually good '94 and a clear success for the vintage and one that should benefit from another year or two in the cellar as it's approaching its peak.
