Centenary Grenache 1903, Mas Doix 2017

Tasting Notes

The heady and voluptuous 2017 1903 Centenary Grenache was sourced from their oldest vines in the Partida de Coma de Casses in Poboleda, 115-year-old plants on a slope of llicorella slate that deliver no more than 300 grams of grapes per plant. The destemmed grapes were sorted twice and fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts. The wine matured in brand-new French barriques for 16 months and was bottled unfined and unfiltered into 361 numbered bottled in March 2019. It's a dark and concentrated style of Garnacha, still quite oaky and creamy. There are some tannins that need to be resolved by a little more time in bottle.
