Prosser’s 146 cases of 2011 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard – from a block of Dijon Clone 777 – is considerably more interesting on nose than palate. Intimations of roasted red meat mingle with sweetly suggestive scents of loganberry and boysenberry typical for this particular clone. There is a welcome hint of salinity on the palate, but the finish here – while strong – is rather simple, berry-like and exhibits a faintly dry tannic edge, possibly from barrel influence. This should be revisited before I attempt to prognosticate.
