Meursault Poruzots Dessus, Domaine Remi Jobard 2018

Tasting Notes

A reserved, indeed almost mute, nose requires determined swirling to reveal the notes of citrus zest, lavender, lilac and spiced pear. There is both excellent intensity and sleek muscularity to the well-defined and subtly mineral-driven flavors that possess good power plus solid depth and length on the appealingly dry finale. This is actually relatively refined for Poruzots and should reward up to a decade of cellaring.

With the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots, Jobard's portfolio takes a step up in density and concentration. Wafting from the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, fresh bread, toasted almonds and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and layered, with tangy acids, chalky extract and an elegant, fine-boned profile.

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots Dessus opens in the glass with aromas of pear, fresh peach, orange rind and honey. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and textural, with lively acids and chalky structuring dry extract, marking a step up in concentration and amplitude after the lieux-dits that preceded it.
