Tasting Notes

An unusually perfumed nose reflects notes of red currant, earth and a vague hint of exotic spice. In the same vein as the nose, there is an unusually suave texture to the round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the compact, firm and sneaky long finish. This possesses fine development potential.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (90), April 2013

The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out very well, exhibiting aromas of sweet cherries, berries, petals and spices, framed by toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's deep and muscular, with fine balance and a penetrating finish. This cuvée is now harvested in two picks, one week or so apart, instead of all in the same day.

William Kelley, RobertParker.com, January 2023

A pink purple colour of medium density. Correct density on the front of the palate then really quite a brutal tannin at the back. The bouquet is not showing much yet and the palate is a bit grumpy. The Clos Vougeot is going through a surly stage but should deliver in due course. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2022

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, December 2022

Mid ruby in colour, the nose here is very tightly wound. With air, a little cherry and raspberry fruit emerge together with some tobacco leaf and peppery spice, but this remains very closed for now. This follows on the palate which shows some darker fruit tones and plenty of spice as expected from Clos de Vougeot, but this remains hard to read. Deep and brooding, it will likely merit a higher score in time. Promisingly long finish.
