Chassagne Montrachet Morgeots, Heitz-Lochardet 2017

Tasting Notes

Les Petits Clos. Clear bright pale colour. The nose is on the elegant side for Morgeot but then this is Petits Clos above the Route des Grands Crus. This wine feels much more limestone than clay, with both white and little yellow plum notes dancing on the palate. Good acidity too.

A discreet application of wood sets off the moderately floral-inflected nose of resin, apple and pear compote. There is good volume but also good vibrancy and especially so for Morgeot on the medium-bodied flavors that are muscular and solidly powerful on the mildly rustic finish. Despite a minor touch of warmth this is really quite good.
