Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Domaine Armand Rousseau 2000

Tasting Notes

A ripe, spicy and still wonderfully fresh nose features almost fully mature aromas that are nuanced by hints of earth and underbrush that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is outstanding richness to the pliant and lush medium-bodied flavors that deliver a beautifully long and mouth coating finish. While the supporting tannins are almost fully resolved and thus this could easily be enjoyed now, I would hold my remaining bottles for another 3 to 5 years first. But the good news is that this is sufficiently close to peaking that it would not be a vinous crime to enjoy the '00 Bèze now. Drink 2017+

This too offers unbelievably complex aromas and flavors with a dazzling array of spices, herb notes, earth and superb clarity and more minerality than I usually get from this wine. Rich and vibrant with grand cru weight and size. Not especially powerful by the unusually high standards of this wine and certainly not a Bèze for the ages but it should provide 15 to 20 years of pure pleasure.
