Inky ruby. A highly aromatic bouquet displays ripe red and blue fruits, pungent flowers, exotic spices, olive and smoky minerals. Chewy and tightly focused on the palate, offering deeply concentrated yet lithe black raspberry, cherry, boysenberry, violet pastille and spicecake flavors that show outstanding clarity and mineral thrust. Finishes taut, sappy and extremely long, with building tannins lending shape and grip to the lingering dark berry and floral notes.
Coming from a great parcel in the northern part of the appellation, the 2020 Côte Rôtie La Vialliere reveals a similar ruby/purple hue to go with some classic Côte Rôtie meaty, bacon fat nuances as well both red and black fruits, spice, and floral aromatics. Medium-bodied, vibrant, and lifted, with fine tannins as well as integrated acidity, it's going to benefit from just a few years of bottle age and drink well over the following 15+.
From a mid-slope parcel facing south-south-east. Aged for around 16 months in a maximum of 15% new oak. Cask sample.
Crushed raspberry, sweet floral notes. A delicate palate with plenty of lavender, spice and wonderful fresh acidity. Feels very light on its feet and has good concentration of fruit too. Has a long elegant fresh finish. (AC)
