The 2018 Syrah Elevacion is all Syrah that normally sees lots of stems and aging in older oak. It offers a slightly more masculine vibe as well as plenty of darker fruits, olive tapenade, crushed stone, and pepper meat aromas and flavors. Rich, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, and elegant, it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as building tannins. This is a cool-climate Syrah from California made for the Rhône lovers out there! 2019-2034
100% Chave selection. Late budding. 100% whole cluster. 2016 was their first 100% whole bunch. Deep crimson. Sumptuously ripe Syrah on the nose. Pure hedonism. Until it tightens up on the end. Very promising. Lots of energy. 2021-2029
The 2018 “Elevación” Syrah from Halcón Vineyards was picked on October 20th in this vintage and comes in at 13.3 percent octane. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts, includes one hundred percent whole clusters and was raised in older French oak puncheons. The wine offers up an absolutely classical bouquet of cassis, dark berries, pepper, grilled meats, a beautiful
base of soil tones, a nice touch of youthful stems and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and shows off exceptional mid-palate depth, with fine focus and
balance, ripe tannins and a long, complex finish that closes with good soil signature and excellent grip. This is a superb wine in the making and will be a stellar bottle a decade down the
road, but it deserves extended cellaring before broaching. 2030-2070.
