It is undoubtely one of the vintage's most successful wines. The 1997 is a sexy, open-knit, flamboyant wine with a dark ruby/purple color, and delicious crè brûlée, coffee, black currant, and smoky notes that jump from the wine's evolved aromatics. Expansive and fleshy, with good fat on the mid-palate, this flashy-styled Léoville Poyferré should drink exceptionally well young, yet keep for 15 or more years.
