This excellent yet under-exploited terroir has produced its finest Tertre Daugay to date. The dark ruby/purple-colored 2009 offers loads of black raspberry, licorice, and black cherry aromas, medium to full body, silky tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and an expansive finish. It should provide enormous pleasure over the next 10-15 years. (Tasted two times.)
Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. The Tertre-Daugay ‘09 is very refined on the nose with superb delineation and focus – pure Merlot with wild strawberry, blueberry and minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, silky tannins, crisp acidity and a very poised, natural finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a “tidy” little Saint Emilion. Tasted January 2013.
