An attractive effort, this 2007 offers notes of black raspberries, black cherries, incense, licorice, and roasted herbs, a dark purple color, sweet, medium-bodied flavors, lots of spice, and velvety tannin. Drink it over the next decade. Drink 2010-2020.
Bright ruby-red. Black fruits and a hint of chocolatey ripeness on the nose. Suave on entry, then sweet, lush and smooth in the middle, with spicy dark berry, black cherry and licorice flavors showing a medicinal aspect. Finishes serious and persistent, with the suggestion of chocolatey ripeness carrying through on the end. (A second sample, of roughly equal quality, showed a cooler aspect and less mid-palate texture but was bright and pure and finished with good length and grip.)
