Tasting Notes

A trace of residual sulfur blows off relatively quickly to reveal attractively layered aromas of honeysuckle, pear and apple. There is good underlying tension to the lightly saline-inflected medium weight flavors that possess a delicious yet entirely serious finish. This is lovely, particularly for what it is and I like the lemon-tinged finale.

The 2012 Mâcon Vergisson la Roche is well-defined on the nose with more terroir expression than the Montbrison. The palate is taut and focused with good weight in the mouth, well-judged acidity and a generous, spicy finish. This is a harmonious Mâcon-Vergisson that does not contain any fireworks, but you will contentedly finish the bottle.
