Zind-Humbrecht's 2008 Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim Vieilles Vignes is analytically scarcely different from its non-V.V. counterpart years, save for even higher acidity. Mushroom, candied white grapefruit rind, mint, chamomile, lavender, and black tea in the nose set the themes for another of this collection's complex palate performances remarkably able to balance its high sugar without becoming cloying. Glycerin-rich and soothing while at the same time cooling and even subtly refreshing, this finishes with bittersweetly herbal and pungently smoky as well as nobly sweet persistence. It ought to perform well for at least 12-15 years.
