Tasting Notes

Made from 100% Merlot from a 5-acre parcel, the stunning 2001 Excellence de Bois Pertuis enjoyed malolactic in barrel, upbringing on its lees, and no fining or filtration. Its inky/purple color is accompanied by a huge bouquet of espresso roast, black currant jam, and melted licorice. This layered, opulently styled effort will not make old bones, but it is delicious for drinking over the next 5-6 years. Readers will have to look long and hard to find a better generic Bordeaux.
