Les Grandes Murailles 2010
A strong effort from the Reiffers family (Michel Rolland is the consultant), the 2010 Grandes-Murailles has the same winemaking and ownership as two other St.-Emilion, Cote de Baleau and the microscopic but superb terroir Clos St.-Martin. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by abundant blueberry and black raspberry fruit intertwined with hints of incense and camphor. Medium to full-bodied with moderate tannins as well as excellent purity and length, it should drink well for 12-15+ years.

Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. The Les Grandes Murailles has an alluring, complete bouquet with very pure, mineral-laden black fruit infused with hints of black truffle and graphite - very focused and poised. The palate is rounded and smooth on the entry. This is very cohesive and dense with raspberry, balsamic and tobacco notes. This is a composed Saint Emilion with healthy dash of black pepper on the finish. Tasted January 2014.
