The Clos de La Barre vineyard adjoins the house within the village of Meursault. It's not a premier cru, and yet it's capable, as here, of producing excellent wine. The nose is firm, mineral and almost austere, with pear and oak aromas that are reserved yet expressive. It's rich and full-bodied, compact and textured, showing sucrosity and depth. The complex and lively palate displays spice and vigour, with a ripe citric edge on the long finish. Drink between 2019-2028
Thibodaux indicated that this had just been fined before my arrival and as such the nose was difficult to read. By contrast there was good richness to the round, delicious and impressively well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent volume yet no lack of detail on the balanced and wonderfully long finish. A terrific villages and even a touch better than its usual outstanding quality.
