Chambolle Musigny Les Baudes, Domaine Serafin 2010

Tasting Notes

There is also a subtle if not invisible touch of wood present on the ripe and relatively deeply pitched nose that offers up red and dark berry liqueur aromas that are liberally laced with hints of wet stone. There is impressive intensity and delineation to the mineral-inflected medium weight plus flavors that possess a sleekly muscular palate feel, all wrapped in a dusty and highly energetic finish. This is refined enough to remind one of its Chambolle roots though the close proximity to Bonnes Mares is also very much in evidence.

Good bright, full red. High-pitched aromas of cherry, raspberry, orange rind and mint, plus a whiff of smoke. Less round and open-knit than the Fontenys but very pure and strong for this cuvee, with the combination of crushed-stone minerality and acid spine giving the wine considerable power. Perhaps a bit tough on the finish in a Bonnes-Mares way but unusually full-bodied for this Chambolle.
