This tiny 6.68 hectare Pomerol estate has been on the up since proprietor Jeremy Chasseuil took back control in 2000 after a long standing lease with Moueix expired. With only a 1200 case production, it is worth looking out for en primeur in the good vintages.

A blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Feytit Clinet sports a deep garnet-purple color. The nose boasts bold Black Forest cake, blackberry compote and plum preserves notes with nuances of chocolate box, violets and fallen leaves. The full-bodied palate has a gorgeous texture of plush, fine-grained tannins and plenty of zing lifting the decadent black fruit flavors, finishing long and savory. It is quite delicious now, but I'd give it another year or two in bottle to really impress. Drink 2021-2040.
Aromas of plums and spice and light chili character. Full-bodied with rich, chewy tannins. The wood is a little predominant now, but this will show nicely with age, as it all comes together. Better after 2023.
Structured and extracted, with some cocoa bean and liquorice emphasis. You can see where owner Jérémy Chasseuil is going with this, as it displays cassis and extremely tight ground coffee bean flavours. Overall there is not a lot of light being let in, yet it just doesn't seem ripe enough to support the ambition.
Drinking Window 2022 - 2034
Deep greyish crimson. Charry dark fruit on the nose. Plenty of black fruit though the oak is rather apparent at the moment. Tannins are compact but smooth, just a little sour and hard on the finish.
Drink 2023-2029
Rich and ripe the nose has sweetness and depth the palate the fleshy richness of ripe black plums. Lighter in the middle bilberry freshness with the sweet fruit coming through on the finish. 2024-34
Too dull and too hard, this is an over-extracted wine with little ripe fruit and too much tannin and brawn. It is unlikely to soften.
Some good fruit with hints of chocolate and berry character. Medium body, firm tannins and an open finish. Should develop nicely.
The present blend of the 2017 Feytit Clinet is 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Very deep purple-black in color, it gives up crushed black plums, blackberries and mulberries with hints of spice box, sandalwood and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied, firm, chewy and quite earthy in the mouth with just enough freshness and those spices reemerge on the finish.
