Gevrey Chambertin Les Cherbaudes, Château Beaumont 2005

Tasting Notes

A subtle touch of reduction knocks the expressiveness of the nose down a bit but the ripe, earthy and mostly dark berry fruit aromas are able to fight through it. The round, supple and agreeable middle weight flavors possess a soft mid-palate and an almost silky palate impression, all wrapped in a delicious and solidly long if slightly sweet finish. This is not really a classic Gevrey in that there is a suave palate feel to what is normally a bit more sauvage in character but that doesn't prevent it from being really quite appealing in a modern style. Be sure to decant it for 20 minutes or so first to help dissipate the reduction. Note that this is soft enough to be approached now.
