Unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of crisp green and yellow orchard fruit mingled with hints of praline, nougat and white flowers, the 2012 Brut Blanc de Noir Parcelle d'Aÿ La Côte Glacière Hommage à William Deutz is medium to full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with racy acids, good concentration and promising structuring extract, concluding with a penetrating finish. This is the more austere and mineral of Deutz's two "Hommage" cuvées this year, and it is built for the cellar.
Very aromatic with strawberries and orange peel and a subtle bread-dough undertone. Full-bodied with a very fine bead, giving the Champagne a creamy texture that follows through to beautiful and refined fruit at the end. Relatively dry. Drink now.
The 2012 La Côte Glacière Brut is a pure Pinot Noir from Aÿ and opens with a beautifully fine yet intense and aromatic cherry bouquet intermixed with yeasty notes. The palate is intensely fruity but fresh, refined and structured, finishing with enormous power and length. This is an impressive wine with super intense Pinot fruit. Tasted from lot LG 116D20018.
