A very pungent nose is largely dominated by SO2 though there are background wisps of quinine water and mineral reduction notes. The strikingly detailed medium weight flavors possess almost painful intensity that also suffuses the austere, backward and bone dry finale. This is presently like a block of stone and I would strongly advise buying this only if you have express plans to age it as it's not likely to make for especially good early drinking.
Another of the highlights of this year's portfolio, the 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is deeper and more complete than the Charmes and Genevrières this year, wafting from the glass with classic aromas of citrus oil, confit lemon, toasted nuts and flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and tangy, with excellent intensity and length.
