100% Mencia from vineyards planted in 1902 and 1901 on slate soils with slopes of 45% - 51% at 600m above sea level. Quite a marked colour in the glass - closer to Tavel than Provence in depth. The nose brings fresh redcurrant, blood orange and white strawberry together. The palate is dry but juicy, bursting with poached stone fruit and cool summer berries. Slight pithiness and bright acids keep everything in check on this juicy and thouroughly enjoyable wine that is best drunk over the next 18 months.
