Ch. Lafoux Provence Rosé

Château Lafoux Rosé was discovered by one of our buyers last year after chancing upon it in an alpine restaurant. We bought all we could of the 2021, and it sold out in a matter of days when we first offered it. We now have the 2022 vintage in our cellars and available for delivery.

This is not a big brand rosé: the property has just 30 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vineyards in the heart of Provence Vert.  The château has been under family ownership for 20 years and this is an artisanal rosé that is hand picked and made with care. Very little of the production makes it outside France; it is the polar opposite of the factory made, bland rosés that dominate the market.

The wine is a blend of mostly Grenache, with some Cinsault, the former giving generous fruit, the latter giving freshness and precision. Pale and fresh, with underlying ripe fruit and a saline edge, it is simply delicious. This is an elegant, dry rosé that will delight lovers of the style, offering up real character and typicity.

Our stock has come directly from the château, and we can offer an attractive discount for orders of two cases plus (one case probably won't be enough).

The 2022 Lafoux offers the same Provencal typicity as last year's excellent rosé. A pale pinkish salmon in colour, the nose layers tangy stone fruit, fresh strawberry and hints of dried herbs. Youthful and vibrant, the savoury tones bring that hit of enticing complexity. The palate is dry, with bright acidity that gives the wine a moreish, lip-smacking finish. In the middle, gentle red fruit and juicy peaches are silky and persistent. Floral towards the finish with more of the dried herb edge, this is a delicious drink for the summer, pure, fresh and very well made.
