Richebourg, Thibault Liger Belair 2018

From vines planted in 1931. Great density of imperial purple colour. Thibault has given the 2018 slightly more whole bunch than in the past, 35-40%. Dense black purple. Very classy, not too ripe fruit, plenty of complexity, maybe the whole bunch has given more complexity. The oak does not show until the very back but it is so suffused by a brilliant dense entirely red fruit, soft strawberry and more pronounced raspberry. Just a few blacker fruit notes and indeed more spice at the very finish. This may be his best Richebourg to date.
