Like the Montrachet, the nose is cool, elegant a pure with its blend of Granny Smith apple, mineral reduction and citrus confit. Somewhat surprisingly, there is a bit more volume to the impressively powerful big-bodied flavors that also display huge length on the almost painfully intense finale that is borderline tannic. This is superb but it's also a wine to buy and forget in the back of a cool cellar for a minimum of 7 to 8 years. A stunner. Note: in 2023 the blend is 80% from Aloxe and the remainder from Pernand
A paler colour, also beautifully done, with little stones infusing the bouquet. “This is far from being ridiculous” suggests Henri. A wonderful thread. The oak is a touch more marked, an iron backbone yet with some delicacy to the fruit, fresh apple, a little citrus, some pear as well, and all a harmonious whole. Really well done. Drink from 2030-2038.
