Tasted blind at Farr's 2002 Bordeaux tasting. A classic Pauillac bouquet with notes of blackberry, sous-bois and pencil box. Great lift and expression and with time there are some subtle tobacco accents following through. The palate is tannic, masculine, well balanced but austere, with racy acidity and a finish that would not be seen dead without a cravat. Excellent. Tasted October 2009.
A light wine by the standards of this property, this herbaceous, spicy, red currant and plum-scented wine shows weedy notes of green tea intermixed with cherries and some washed-out red currants. It is a pleasant, picnic-styled Grand-Puy-Lacoste to drink during its first 5-7 years of life.
Drink 2012-22 Scented and dense and well behaved and comme il faut.
