Based on La Côte and complemented by En Carmentrant, the 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé C. C., much like its 2022 counterpart, is a charming, satiny, medium to full-bodied wine evocative of honeyed peaches, toasted nuts and white flowers. It will drink well young.
Jean-Marie says the 2023 vintage of this cuvée ressembles the 2020 made here and is very rich because of the age of the vines (which were planted in 1955). The cold exposure balances this richness. The 200 case production comes from grapes picked in the La Côte and En Carmentrant vineyards. Free run juice only to give this wine more delicacy. Pale straw in colour, the fruit here is lightly nutty and smoky, savoury and subtle. This is a succulent, rounded wine with a satiny texture on the palate. The fruit is fleshy and the acids lightly tangy, creating an immediate pleasure and finesse. A refined, moreish wine that is coming together very well already at a young stage, this should drink well from release.
