12% alcohol. Thanks to the code on the label you can find out a lot of information on this wine from Nyetimber’s website: Bottling date 21.03.2018, Riddling date 19.09.2024, Disgorging date 26.11.2024. Dosage 10 g/litre. This is really lovely after 80 months on the lees, and it carries the quite high dosage really well. This shows subtle toasty notes on a framework of crystalline citrus fruit with some richer notes of white peach and even some apricot. It finishes lively with good acidity, with no harshness. This has real depth and sophistication, with the bright drive of Chardonnay grown in a cool climate, but also some richness and complexity from lees ageing, but also starting with physiologically ripe grapes.
Full bottle 1,616 g. 100% Chardonnay. Disgorged 26 November 2024. Dosage 10 g/l.
Definite smoky/toasty aroma as well as sweet citrus, strong notes of brioche and creamy lees plus pure, bright citrus fruit with just a touch of clementine. Lightly chewy and generous autolytic (toasty) flavours as well as a light 'golden spiciness' that is as much texture as flavour. Rich, mouth-filling. More intensity than elegance at the moment but the finish is long and the mousse lingers nicely alongside those layers of mature flavours. Not bone dry but balanced, leading to a long, mouth-watering finish. Drink 2025-2030.
