Tasting Notes

Racked this morning. Still deeper purple. The nose has a stern dark fruit concentration, less immediately juicy than the other Côte de Nuits-Villages – Faulques has just been sulphured which may be tightening this up but it is clearly both concentrated and balanced.

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, November 2024

Bright ruby colour in the glass, the nose here opens with sweet cherry fruit and redolent blossom tones, together with a lick of sweet spice. The palate is silky in texture, with lightly powdery tannins coating juicy red fruit. There's a hint of redcurrant jelly, but the fruit feels vibrant despite the slight sweetness. Finishing with just a touch of reductive spice, this is a moreish, approachable wine that can be drunk now or over the next 5-8 years.

Thomas Parker MW, Farr Vintners, November 2025

A fresh and layered array of various red berries, plum, earth and soft floral notes introduce generously proportioned medium weight flavors that are blessed with plenty of energy on the moderately structured, firm and serious finish that displays only a mild trace of austerity. Aux Faulques always needs time in bottle to come around and the 2023 version will be no exception. Note: a 1.8 ha monopole in Comblanchien
