Dark red; cassis, soaked black cherries, licorice airs on a nose of inky depth. The palate has spice, channelled black fruits, graphite, is fluid, with a hint of rose petal towards the finish. It has solid underpinning, a note of oak at the end, shows black olives on the finish. 13.8°. Unusually, 60-65% Tartaras this year, usually is 60-65% Cognet, which suffered from drought this year. From spring 2025, be in no hurry so it can reveal complexity. 2041-43. 4.5 stars.
dark red; we’re up a grade here from the regular Côtes red, the nose interesting, a mix of coffee, blueberry-blackcurrant, pure airs, smoked, tuneful, lingering. The palate is floral-themed, holds good sève [sap] and feel, with polished, streamlined tannins, the juice decisive. This is pedigree Côtes, floral, interesting, with iron in its late moments, the aftertaste as clear as a whistle. Decant it. The stems [all included] have contributed well. From 2025. 21 years 2) (228-litre cask, Tartaras) ****(*) dark robe; the nose has an aroma of jam, sun depth without excess, notes of rose, is well rounded. There is probing depth on the palate – this is engine room wine, profound, dark, sustained, holds blue fruit, cool tones, is straight down the line, has lots of natural quality, serves its juice with fine, notably sure continuity.
