Here the spicy, elegant and pure nose of both red and dark currant, Asian-style tea, sandalwood and anise is noticeably fresher. The freshness carries over to the palate impression of the tension-filled and beautifully detailed middleweight flavors that are markedly finer before terminating in a hugely long, firm, youthfully austere and impeccably well-balanced finale. The Clos de Vougeot is certainly good, but this classy effort possesses an extra dimension of depth.
