Reduction and soft spice notes are all that can be seen on the nose though there is plenty of vivacity to the beautifully refined, pure and seductively textured middle weight flavors that culminate in a mouth coating, focused and harmonious finish that is marvelously complex. This is a very classy and sophisticated effort that should age well due to its perfect balance.
For a Suchots, I find this 2010 to be comparatively linear and "correct", perhaps a Suchots saving something for later. The palate has a sappy entry with crisp acidity at the back of the mouth and a very composed, intense finish that shows great structure and length. Excellent...but I prefer the Charmes. Tasted January 2012.
Bright red. Complex, soil-driven aromas of raspberry, smoky minerals and truffle. Quite penetrating on the palate; as thick as the Beaumonts but less open today, and not showing the same early sweetness or floral character. Began with a bit less lift but showed increasing precision as it opened in the glass. Dense but elegant wine with silky, well-buffered tannins.
