Notes of peaches and pears mingled with toasted nuts and iodine introduce the 2023 Saint-Véran Vigne de Saint-Claude, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy wine with tangy acids and chalky structure. This has once again turned out very nicely. 2024 - 2034
Zesty, sweet citrus nose. Rich! But a tense finish. Lots to chew on. Needs lots of time but the finish is very long. VGV. 2027-2040
This small parcel of vines is situated in the village of Prissé, very close to the vines of Pouilly-Fuisse in Vergisson. The vines are around 50 years old and grown on a stony soil. Made from free-run juice only and fermented and aged in barrel with 25% new oak. This wine has opened up very well over the last six months. Bright lemon in colour, this is chock full of ripe peaches and pears on the nose, with a light touch of wood spice. There is an added precision and salinity that has emerged with time in bottle. The palate has impressive flesh and balancing chalky grip, giving this a sumptuous but serious profile that is always countered by measured acidity. Bright but now wonderfully layered on the finish, this has sheen and spice on the finish, ideal for drinking now or over the coming 5+ years.
