Laboro Dissubbediente, Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino 2014

Tasting Notes

Outside any official appellation, this wine takes a contrarian approach to Barolo. The grape used here is Nebbiolo, and the aging time (before the wine is released commercially) is the same as Barolo. Yet the 2014 Laboro Disobedient makes a point that it is not Barolo. It is, however, a very satisfying wine that shows impressive results considering the hardships of the vintage. Black fruit is followed by savory tones of leather, cooked bacon and campfire ash. I love the freshness and the vibrant personality of the mouthfeel. This wine goes through fermentation and aging in oak. It never goes into stainless steel. Only 5,000 bottles were made.
