The Powder House site is on Goldridge soils, planted in 2013. The tightly spaced Hyde Old Wente and Mount Eden selections have been dry farmed the past few years, according to Aubert. The 2022 Chardonnay Powder House features attractive notions of crushed stone, citrus oil, hints of tea and perhaps even bergamot. Medium to full-bodied, with great thrust and energy, this is zesty, clean and crisp, with terrific length. 2024-2035.
Aromas of candied lemons, crushed stone and sage with some cream. So gorgeous. Full bodied, with density, depth and a crunchy character. Complex and thoughtful, with an electric finish of lemon zest and dried apples. Flavorful finish. Drink or hold.
