Tasting Notes

This has impressive aromatic complexity with an array of cooler red fruits through to cassis and purple cherry with background oak spice. The palate's tart and tangy in an elegant, restrained mode. Tannins clutch the finish. Drink from 2020. Screw cap.

84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc. Harvested from 24 to 28 March. Maceration for seven days with fermentation in stainless steel starting at 12 °C and ending at 27 °C. Malolactic conversion completed. Aged for 18 months in French oak, 40% new and the remainder second and third fill. Bottled February 2016. RS 0.9 g/l, TA 6.95 g/l, pH 3.47. Total SO2 54 mg/l, free SO2 24 mg/l. Screwcap.
Slightly simple cassis aromas. Not as much evolution as I’d have hoped for. I wonder why this is still available? (JR) 2020 – 2026
