Tasted blind, this was a strong showing for Magnien's 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles St Jacques. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet red cherries, candied peel, licorice and creamy new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with tangy acids and fine-grained tannins. While it would appear to be shutting down, it's a pretty rendition of this superb but seldom-seen premier cru.
