The 2010 Baron de Brane has more detail and clarity on the nose compared to the 2009, displaying black fruit, gravel and cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, more fruit concentration than the 2009 and a poised, savory, slightly meaty finish. This is a fine Deuxième Vin. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château. 2018 - 2024
A deep ruby in the glass, this has an expressive nose of ripe plums, bramble fruits and a hint of savoury spices. The palate is juicy on entry, chock full of summer fruits that are supported by ripe but crunchy tannins. Through the mid palate come notes of graphite, rosemary and nutmeg which add a layer of complexity. Smooth tannins and fresh acidity keeps the wine in perfect balance and adds freshness, but the silkiness means that this wine is already perfect to drink. A superb window into the style of the 2010 vintage with an atypical approachability.
Bright and intensely floral, with a lovely violet aroma and long, rich plum sauce, blackberry and currant notes. There's lush toast, but it's nicely integrated. Very suave.
