An elegant, cool and ripe nose features mostly red berry, spice and discreet floral scents. There is good power and sappiness to the delicious, if not especially dense, flavors that possess excellent length on the balanced and youthfully austere finale. This needs better depth so at least mid-term cellaring is advised.
Aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, orange zest and spices introduce the 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, dense and mineral wine that's cool and layered, hinting at excellent aging potential.
30% whole bunch vinification in both the Chambolle Grands Crus. The colour is a little more sombre at the edges and the oak shows more. This is on the dour side for Bonnes Mares, with tannins, Brawny and brambly, suggesting a higher pH. While there is no problem about the weight of fruit, the Bonnes Mares is not singing today. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Oct 2024.
