The 1972 Rivesaltes has a delineated bouquet with dried honey, nutmeg and marmalade notes that are harmonious and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy, sweet entry and notes of orange rind, marmalade, apricot and a dash of Chinese five-spice. Very graceful on the finish, the 1972 fans out wonderfully—one of the most elegant Rivesaltes from Domaine St Michel. Drink 2025-2045.
Very pale golden tawny. Yellow rim. Raisiny nose with some rancio. Some liquorice notes. Like the 1973, this has real grip on the palate – and length. A complex VDN. (JR)
